After the abrupt and somewhat unexplained implosion of Betamax’s career as a touring drummer, Max has discovered himself very much at home and left to his own devices. His new work ‘Fluff’ continues his recent ill-advised dive into the unfamiliar world of machine music.
Listeners might be advised to look past the waft of fragrant nostalgia (his youth feverishly devoted to exploring the world of 16-bit Consolia). Max, now a dad in his 40s finds himself boldly button-bashing with his settings set firmly on one player mode. The electronic music manual has been recklessly tossed out the window with auto pilot firmly disengaged. Our hero begins to grapple with the dials, from here on Max has taken full control of the mission audio.

The resulting ‘Fluff’ can be described as the sonic debris accumulating in the belly of Betamax’s cultural crevice, and perhaps this music is not really safe for public consumption. Fragrantly shunning commercial success, Max rhythmically warps the subatomic structure of his musical architecture. Once again a mischievous G force is at play within the propulsion drive as the percussive clusters wildly orbit the super-gravitational space bass.
Some discerning listeners might note the pervasive aroma of technical ineptitude, however Betamax seeks to outgun his electronic contemporaries by utilising his sixth sense of rhythmic charm in combination with his musical bravery and ceaseless experimentation.

Traversing the new terrain of ‘Fluff’, listeners will explore an alluring diversity of psychoacoustic micro climates. Audio samples that have been brought back to earth reveal the clear presence of ionised Boom Bap, highly reactive House particles and rare elements of liquidised Dub. However the volatile flare of the sonic storm has produced a plethora of audible mutations in the surrounding biological flora. Furthermore, our sonic indicators suggest that an animalistic life is indeed abundant throughout ‘Fluff’s temporal plain.
