La Lama Sottile (2004) is the vibrant and uncompromising debut album by the Italian band Zaal, released by the esteemed Genoese label Black Widow Records. Formed by guitarist Stefano Panisi, the band presents a complex, predominantly instrumental work that straddles the line between the dark, classic Italian art rock of the 1970s and technically sophisticated modern jazz fusion. The album draws attention with its sharp, dynamic dramaturgy ("Thin Blade"), impeccable technical chemistry, and virtuosic instrumental dialogues.
