The Feelgood McLouds - Decade On Parade (2026) Hi Res

You have to celebrate occasions as they come! And The Feelgood McLouds, hailing from Saarbrücken the capital of the German state of Saarland marked their tenth anniversary in 2025. Naturally, this called for a new studio album to commemorate the milestone; the record, aptly titled *A Decade On Parade*, is now before this reviewer. Their debut of the same name was released in 2017, followed by *Life On A Ferris Wheel* (2020) and *Dance With Broken Bones* (2023) not forgetting the two EPs, *Saints And Sinners* (2021) and *Green Heart* (2024). Now comes this brand-new release featuring 13 tracks that it must be said right off the bat really kick into high gear. The band continues to celebrate a brand of Celtic punk rock and folk punk that is refreshingly high-energy and packs a serious punch.

True to form, they go all out right from the opening track, "Here We Go." The genre's pioneers, The Pogues, would likely take great delight in this record, even if the tracks by Shane MacGowan’s (R.I.P.) crew took a slightly more measured approach back in the day. To draw a comparison, The Feelgood McLouds’ sound is much closer to modern genre heavyweights like the Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly. That’s not a problem at all, of course; in fact, it’s music to the ears of fans who prefer a sound that’s significantly harder than the mainstream. By the time we reach the fifth track, "All The Souls Are Lost," the septet hasn't let up one bit in terms of speed or intensity. What’s more, the tracks with their strong, catchy vocal melodies instantly compel you to drop everything and switch into spontaneous party mode.

In true Ramones fashion, all the musicians share the surname "McLoud," implying (or at least suggesting) a deep bond unlike the actual Ramones, of course. But that’s a side note; getting back to the music, Günther McLoud’s powerful, gritty vocals are a perfect fit for the sound. Towards the end of the album, things take a more contemplative turn with "You Are Our" and "Family" or at least during the first half of this split track (where, amusingly, the title itself was divided). However, the second part "Family" picks up the pace significantly, carrying the song across the finish line with flying colors and strong vocal melodies. Finally, "Messed Up My Life" delivers a genuinely fine ballad in classic Feelgood McLouds style, naturally. A killer track!

If you’re into folk and/or Celtic punk rock, The Feelgood McLouds are exactly what you’re looking for. And if they deliver this kind of explosive energy on a studio album, one can only imagine the intensity of their live shows something that hasn't gone unnoticed by scene heavyweights like Fiddler’s Green or the aforementioned Flogging Molly. Indeed, the band from Saarland has already shared the stage with both of those acts. It’s a fantastic album just be prepared for a high-octane, full-throttle ride right up until the final stretch, when a few mellower tracks finally get their moment. It works perfectly!
