Sylvain Pohu - Guitare électronique (2026) Hi Res

This album presents a collection of pieces for electric guitar and electronic devices that explore distortion, saturation, chaos, and noise, in dialogue with several images and ideas of a fragile, magical beauty. This music illustrates the transversality of Sylvain Pohu’s practice.

First up is "Portrait d’un ami singulier et pluriel" by Pierre Alexandre Tremblay, his long-standing collaborator since 1996, first within the ensemble [iks], then the duo ‘de type inconnu’. Pierre Alexandre has written for the first time a solo piece for him, inspired by their many musical adventures.

Next, "Donstruction", by Sola Nkani, which was premiered during a creative residency at the CEM in 2021, where the composer invited Sylvain to perform this piece, which she had composed for him when exploring (de)(re)constructing her musical worlds.

Finally, "Feedback", composed and premiered in 2014 by Sylvain himself, and constantly evolving ever since. It highlights his work as a composer, improviser, instrumentalist, and digital instrument maker, and acts as a mirror of the entanglement of his many interests.

All in all, here is an album offering a very personal vision of today’s experimental electric guitar.
