Charlemagne Palestine - KKAARREENNIINNAA (2026) [Hi-Res]

BAND/ARTIST: Charlemagne Palestine

Legendary drone and minimalism musician Charlemagne Palestine joined forces with multi-instrumentalist Daniel O’Sullivan and guitarist Oren Ambarchi to release KKKAAARRREEENNNIIINNNAAA on Black Truffle, capturing their 2025 London performance. At the core of the work is a reimagining of Karenina, a 1997 hypnotic piece dedicated to the memory of the artist's deceased labrador, originally arranged for falsetto vocals and harmonium. In this new trio iteration, Daniel O’Sullivan operates three cassette decks playing the original tape, creating phase shifts and ricocheting delays, while Oren Ambarchi layer Leslie-processed guitar textures alongside Charlemagne Palestine's expressive live vocal and organ performance. Drawing from six decades of exploring continuous sound, drone, sacred Jewish chants, and Indian vocal traditions, the trio crafts a dense psychedelic soundscape, elevating the recording into a compelling piece of modern ritual music.
