Australian Indigenous musician, filmmaker, and activist Richard J Frankland, a Gunditjmara man, released the album Discovering Leerpeen Mara, combining new material with re-imagined compositions from his earlier career. The record weaves together acoustic folk and indie folk with anthemic rock and electronic music elements. Through poetic spoken-word delivery and expressive vocals, the artist addresses social and political themes alongside Indigenous cultural heritage. The project features Ash Dargan on yidaki (didgeridoo), guitarist Lee Sonnyboy Morgan, electronic producer DJ Quix, and vocalist Nilusha. The album serves as a rich showcase of Indigenous music and pop rock, bridging traditional storytelling with contemporary avant-garde folk.
