VA - Hi-Fidelity (A Taste Of Stereo Sound) (2018)

The CD compilation “Hi-Fidelity (A Taste Of Stereo Sound)” (barcode: 0600753855034) is an official release by Universal Music Operations Limited, issued on November 16, 2018, under the special sub‑label “Own Label”.
The release is a unique project aimed at fans of classic high‑quality stereo sound from the 1970s.
History of creation and concept
The compilation was compiled by Bob Stanley, a member of the famous British pop group Saint Etienne. The project was created exclusively for the British supermarket chain Sainsbury's. The label's name "Own Label" is a direct reference to the design of Sainsbury's own trademark from the 1970s.
Initially, in 2017, the compilation was released in a limited edition on vinyl, and thanks to the success of the series, at the end of 2018, Universal released it on CD (in a standard jewel case with an 8‑page booklet). Bob Stanley’s idea was to recreate the atmosphere of music compilations from the heyday of analog Hi‑Fi, which combined both world hits and deep tracks that showcased the audio system.
