In 1962, the Philadelphia-formed vocal group Blue Belles, who would later achieve global fame as Labelle, released their debut full-length album. The record set a rare precedent in the music industry, as the young group's very first official release was entirely dedicated to a Christmas theme. The key highlight of the album is the vocal performance of young Patti LaBelle, whose soulful, delicate, and graceful delivery of holiday standards laid the foundation for her future career as one of the premier vocalists in soul and R&B.
