British clarinetist and jazz musician Acker Bilk swept the global instrumental music scene in 1962 with his composition «Stranger on the Shore». Recorded with The Paramount Jazz Band, this soulful piece centered around an expressive clarinet performance became an international hit, topping the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and reaching number two in the UK. The melody found exceptional resonance among Japanese audiences, where melancholy wind arrangements hold a deep cultural appeal. The reissue of this landmark album revives a cornerstone of traditional jazz and easy listening that defined the sound of 1960s instrumental pop.
