In 1960, American singer and actress Annette Funicello (Annette), a former star of The Mickey Mouse Club and one of the defining teen idols of the early teen pop era, released her fourth studio album. The record stands out as a cohesive conceptual release inspired by Italian culture and vocal traditions. The album blend original American pop compositions with adaptations of classic Italian songs and canzones. Key highlights include an English-language interpretation of the Neapolitan standard «Funiculì, Funiculà», retitled «Dream Boy», and a rare Italian-language recording of «O Dio Mio». This reissue is expanded with the bonus single version of «O Dio Mio» in English, which became a major hit in her career, successfully merging traditional European pop traditions with early 1960s American teen pop sensibilities.
