Singer-songwriter and folk-rock band Burs member Lauren Dillen releases her debut solo EP, Blue Star. Having previously toured the Canadian indie folk circuit alongside Charlotte Cornfield, Bahamas, and Great Lake Swimmers, the artist dedicates her solo effort to personal growth, overcoming perfectionism, and embracing emotional honesty. Conceptually, the record explores themes of identity, uncoupling self-worth from romantic validation, and sustaining long-term love.
Initial recording took place at the National Music Centre in Calgary with engineer Graham Lessard (The Barr Brothers, Timber Timbre). Drawing inspiration from Toronto's ambient scene and organist Molly Raben, Dillen incorporated the studio's pipe organ and used a vocal freeze pedal effect to create suspended soundscapes. The result is an intimate indie folk record infused with ambient textures, botanical metaphors, and reflective arrangements.
Tracklist:
1. Lauren Dillen - Overture
2. Lauren Dillen - Chains, Rings
3. Lauren Dillen - Deepest Part of Love
4. Lauren Dillen - One More Time for the Road
5. Lauren Dillen - Blue Star
6. Lauren Dillen - Candles
7. Lauren Dillen - "Wildflowers of North America"
