Bas van Holt - Fruit Basket (2026) [Hi-Res]

The "Fruit Basket" LP by Bas Van Holt is released on Echo Archive and documents the beginning of his solo path after ten years with Dawn Brothers. The record brings together a personal selection of songs and sound experiments, with an approach guided less by stylistic cohesion than by curiosity and playful exploration.Musically, the work moves between louder, unpredictable rock moments, a stripped-down indie folk sensibility, and instrumental guitar pieces; Beck, Daniel Lanois, and Paul McCartney are cited as influences. The songs range from narrative folk pieces to spontaneous improvisations to more grunge-tinged passages, while still leaving room for restrained, atmospheric guitar arrangements.Bas Van Holt plays most of the instruments himself, but is joined in select places by friends: Pablo van de Poel (DeWolff), Darryl Ciggaar (Minko), Ties Voskamp (Cocobolo), Jelle Rozenburg, and Yanna Pelser contribute additional musical layers. This collaboration lends the compositions textured moments without diluting the intimate signature of the solo project.Taken as a whole, "Fruit Basket" presents an artist who fuses songwriting and experimentation: rougher rock ideas meet finely nuanced melodies, while the production preserves the direct, handmade character of the recordings, turning the artwork into a doorway to a multifaceted musical cosmos.
