Melvins drummer Dale Crover releases his acoustic EP Get Yer Ba-Ba’s Out on September 4, 2026, via Joyful Noise. The record opens with a reimagining of Neil Young’s "Harvest Moon" transitioning into the Melvins track "The Bit," alongside acoustic renditions of his solo repertoire and a brand-new title track. The EP marks the third acoustic effort from the Melvins camp, following Buzz Osborne’s solo albums This Machine Kills Artists and Gift of Sacrifice, both recorded with audio engineer Toshi Kasai.
The concept originated during a 2024 tour with power pop veterans Redd Kross, where Crover performed solo acoustic sets paired with DJ performances. The album title references a track by Brazilian rapper Braulio Fogón, The Rolling Stones' live album Get Yer Ya Ya’s Out!, and the phenomenon of glossolalia. Departing from the dense electric arrangements of his previous solo album Glossolalia—which featured Tom Waits, Ty Segall, and Soundgarden's Kim Thayil—the new material adopts an intimate format created alongside Sarah Linton of Harshmellow and The Schizophonics. The music blends acoustic rock, power pop, and glam rock, enhancing the sparse instrumentation with experimental percussion and idiophones.
Tracklist:
1. Dale Crover - Harvest Moon/The Bit
2. Dale Crover - Doug Yuletide
3. Dale Crover - Get Yer Ba-Ba's Out
4. Dale Crover - Rings
5. Dale Crover - I Can't Help You There
6. Dale Crover - Jane
