We created this silent and quiet distance by living inside our phones, scrolling past each other, narrowing our lives into this cold and digital corridor. I began building and collecting this conceptual sonic world back in 2022 that reflected that feeling: precise, detached, synthetic. I had a vision of a glass box in the sky, artificial and disconnected from reality. It’s also used in video games to create an illusion of a sky, and a place for sport commentators to narrate the game in the world down below

But that didn’t really inspire me. Why would I construct a creative world that fuels dread and reflect a mundane reality that we already subconsciously carry with us every day? Something inside of me wanted to inspire a message of hope. Reconnection with land, and having meaningful diversity and variety between us is what makes our earth a special place.

In doing that, things that matter the most to me returned: the people around me, the community, the way our lives overlap despite our differences, variety, shapes and colours, the land we stand on. We carry our luggage on our backs but we’re all standing in the same space. We share this place, a home that feels ancient and alive — something older than any of us, stretching far beyond our own timelines.

This record is my manifesto, a treasure chest of hope, community and home.

My cassette recorder became my notebook, that I brought with me everywhere. I started recording my friends, family and strangers. Small moments of conversations, laughter, music jams and late night chats. The imperfect and human feel of those fleeting moments carefully carrying the pulse of the backbone of what became the beating heart of room full of people.

This notebook became a room full of people.
