The music collective Sunshine Makers from London, Ontario, led by frontman Brent Jackson, performs psychedelic soul and funk, blending influences from R&B, jazz, and 1970s West Coast soul. Featuring keyboardist and vocalist Tina Powell, bassist Caleb Brown, drummer Thom Perquin, and percussionist Shayn Barnes, the band builds its sound on vintage tones, hypnotic live arrangements, and rich vocal harmonies.
Through extensive live performances, the ensemble has shared stages with artists such as BADBADNOTGOOD, Lady Wray, Brainstory, and Shad, while also touring internationally in Tokyo, Sweden, and Texas. The group's work earned them the 2025 Forest City London Music Award for R&B/Soul Group of the Year, alongside coverage in Rolling Stone France and airplay on France’s FIP radio. Following their 2024 self-titled debut, the A-Side EP, and their second album The Sun Still Shines, Sunshine Makers traveled to Los Angeles in April 2026. Working at Killion Sound in North Hollywood with producer Sergio Rios, the band tracked their third album, Turn Up The Sun, live to analog tape. Scheduled for release in June 2027 via their own independent label LOVETOWN RECORDS, the record will be preceded by the lead single "The Love We Give" on September 4, 2026.
