Formed in the late 1970s featuring vocalist Pauline Black (Pauline Black) and guitarist Neol Davies (Neol Davies), the British band The Selecter emerged as a pivotal force in the 2 Tone movement and the ska revival era. The group set itself apart from its peers through an integrated multiracial and mixed-gender lineup, delivering socially conscious lyrics addressing racism, sexism, and societal struggles. Following their debut on the flipside of The Specials' seminal 1979 single "Gangsters", the lineup quickly expanded to capture widespread acclaim. A comprehensive 30-track retrospective collection documents the ensemble's legacy by gathering their complete BBC archives for the first time, bringing together live concert broadcasts, radio sessions, and television appearances alongside extensive liner notes by music journalist Simon Price (Simon Price).
