Casablanca Moon / Desperate Straights (1993) is a two-disc CD reissue from Virgin Records, combining two seminal albums by the avant-garde pop/art rock band Slapp Happy, recorded in 1974–1975 in collaboration with members of the legendary Canterbury/avant-prog group Henry Cow.
Ironic, theatrical, intellectual, and sonically refined, the music combines elements of European cabaret (in the vein of Kurt Weill), jazz, swing, and avant-garde academism with the fragile, expressive vocals of Dagmar Krause.
