With a final E.P. release before the arrival of their album, the Birds Of Pandaemonium duo come forth with another track off the long player which is a bold balearic move as they give us their own unique cover of an absolute stone cold classic! Idris Muhammed's 'Could Heaven Ever Be Like This' is a heavenly chunk of dreamy, disco-era jazz-funk that's been capable of reducing grown men and women to tears when played at the right time and was a firm fave of David Mancuso at his legendary Loft parties (so no pressure then!). Under the studio science of Birds Of Pandaemonium the track is given a full psychedelic fuelled makeover and into a slo-mo, cosmic-space disco hybrid number that chugs as much as it grooves in its (just under) 10 min run time. Less jazzy than the OG but still with enough shoulder twitching tendencies to make even Herbie Hancock cut a rug. Stabby pianos with warped guitars & synths and some reverb drenched horns all wrapped up in an ethereal vocal delivery keeps you hooked throughout. Not too far from the original but enough to make this juicy number stand on its own 2 woozy feet and soundtrack some serious Summertime action. Ramping up the whallop factor is one of Sprechen's nearest & dearest, Hifi Sean who takes things out of Mancuso's Loft and across the road to The Limelight. Stomping out of the gates with acid house hallmarks a-plenty on his remix whilst his dub offering drops the vocodered vocal. Elsewhere the Birds Of Pandaemonium guys themselves give us 2 wicked remixes with the first being a serious dance floor heater from the Metro Area sound of party pingers whilst their 'Dub Poem Version' goes totally off reservation with a spoken word delivery across a hybrid mix of heads down, EBM stylings before morphing into the disco cosmos from the OG mix. Yep its as interesting as it sounds!
