Status Quo is a British institution, they have been active almost continuously since 1962, with about 100 singles and 33 albums, making them one of the most prolific English bands. They have sold about 120 million albums worldwide.
"In The Army Now" was their 17th album, released after the 1985 Live Aid festival, after drummer Jeff Rich and bassist John Edwards joined the band at that time.
At the same time, the title song was also playing, which is a great song, but the media has (very) scorned it.
Incidentally, I didn't even know that it was a 1982 composition by a Dutch pair of brothers, which they made successful (Bolland & Bolland).
The Rossis recorded it exactly as it was, without any changes, and it became one of their greatest successes.
Unfortunately, this also meant that the rest of the album's songs - almost all of them excellent! - were completely lost.
Quo kept releasing recordings, their weaker (or "overproduced") songs were released as singles, but quite a few of their songs were never released.
In 2006, Mercury released the album with bonus tracks, but since the 2010s, starting with the 1976 album Blue For You, all of their albums have been released in double CD format (the ones that weren't triple) with an incredible amount of bonus tracks. A two-CD edition of "In The Army Now" with 16 bonus tracks was released in 2018.
