American musical act LSD and the Search for God has released the EP Heaven Is a Place via Deep Space Recordings and Mind Expansion. Marking the band's first release in nine years following their self-titled debut EP, the recording captures a period after Ryan Lescure and Ricky Maymi of Brian Jonestown Massacre joined the lineup. During the interim, the group toured extensively across North America, appearing at events such as Austin Psych Fest Levitation alongside A Place To Bury Strangers and The Dandy Warhols, and embarking on joint tours with UK band The Telescopes. Members Liszt, Fifield, and Maymi played dual roles in both groups nightly, which led to a recording collaboration resulting in the EP Harm on Neon Sigh and the single Thrown on Genjing Records.
Musically, Heaven Is a Place draws heavily from the classic Creation Records aesthetic, incorporating shoegaze, psychedelic rock, and space rock. The tracks combine reverb-drenched guitar layers, interwoven male and female vocals, and hazy guitar riffs. To support the EP, LSD and the Search for God scheduled an extended European tour starting at Cosmosis Festival alongside The Jesus and Mary Chain, Wire, and The Raveonettes.
