The third album by the British band Inner City Unit is an archival compilation of rarities, demos, and experimental tracks recorded by the group in the late 1970s. The material features early versions of key tracks such as "Watching the Grass Grow", "Space Invaders", and "Polyethylene". These specific demos attracted the attention of major record label Polydor in 1979, though the band rejected the contract due to a lack of financial advance.
The release also gathers rare disco experiments created by band members Dead Fred and Trev Thomas, as well as a sharp satirical track, "Blue Rinse Haggard Robot", targeting Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Although these early takes lack the polish of the studio versions found on their debut album, the raw and unpredictable nature of Inner City Unit grants these recordings definitive status within their punk rock and progressive rock catalog. The 2007 reissue on Cherry Red further expands the collection with tracks from the Blood and Bone EP and material linked to Hawkwind.
