"Cirkus III - Pantomyme" (1998) is the third studio album by the iconic British progressive rock band Cirkus, originally formed in Newcastle in the early 1970s (known for their rare 1973 debut, "One").
"Pantomyme," released on Audio Archives in 1998, marked the return of the band's original founder and primary songwriter, drummer and 12-string guitarist Stuart "Blue" McDade.
In contrast to the heavier organ-driven prog of the 1970s, the album's sound translates classical British rock into the context of the 1990s. The music is a seamless fusion of melodic neo-prog, guitar passages, atmospheric keyboard backings, and expressive melodies. At certain moments, you can hear acoustic 12-string strumming, flute (recorded by former frontman Alan Roadhouse) and elements of pastoral folk-prog.
