"Imbroccata" is the only full-length studio album by the Dutch neo-prog band Dilemma, released in 1995 on SI Music (known for releases from the European progressive scene of the 1990s). The term "Imbroccata" comes from fencing and means a thrust from above, emphasizing the precise and dynamic nature of the music.
The album's music combines melody, rhythmic flexibility, and rich keyboard and guitar arrangements. The album embodies the best features of Dutch and European neo-prog of the 1990s, with expressive vocals, lush synth passages, and virtuoso guitar solos.
The sound clearly reveals influences from Marillion (the era of Fish and early Hogarth), IQ, Genesis, as well as fellow Dutch artists Kayak and Egdon Heath.
Despite the fact that the album was the band's only release in the 90s (after which the group broke up for a long period, returning with new material only years later), "Imbroccata" is considered one of the hidden gems of Dutch neo-prog of the 90s.
