For Absent Friends – Both Worlds (1991)

The album's music is accessible, melodic neo-progressive rock with elements of the mainstream rock of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Its sound straddles the line between early Marillion, IQ, Rush (the 1980s era), and the commercial era of Genesis / Mike + The Mechanics.

The album combines relatively lengthy, multi-layered epics (the title track "Both Worlds" is over 8 minutes long) with simpler, more radio-friendly songs and ballads ("Tell Me," "Never Ending Rain").

For the Dutch neo-prog scene of the early 1990s, the album was a milestone, cementing For Absent Friends' status as one of the country's most promising melodic symphonic rock bands.
