Pablo's Eye - Everything you give away (2026)

The Mitteleuropa enigma is strong on the 2nd original LP by Pablo’s Eye for Stroom, commanding attention to noctilucent, cinematic synth scapes laced with hand-played drums and poetry that plays out like a waking dream.

Active since ’89, the rotating assembly of Pablo’s Eye, headed by Axel Libeert, have plotted a unique course thru the backwaters of art rock, ambient, fantasy soundtrack music, and whatever else they fancy, leading to a pair of retrospectives on Stroom in 2018-19, plus the cult EP ‘Bardo For Pablo’, and fresh material on ‘The Light Was Sharp, Our Eyes Were Closed’ (2024).

Here represented by Marie Mandi, Luc Laret, Thierry Royo, Richard Skinner, Axel Libeert, and Ludwig Lapauw on ‘Everything You Give Away’, they follow noses for a typically low slung and resoundingly atmospheric album primed to seduce anyone in its path, as they stealthily proceed from the nightfall of ‘Walking the Line’, reminding us of DAAC, to the blushed choral pads and trip hop bass of ‘Reverie’ and Reese bass-gilded centrepiece ‘A dash of raspberry’, and ultimately the widescreen departure of ‘October ’75’.
