Heldon - Interface (1977)

Interface is the sixth studio album by the French electronic avant-garde band Heldon, formed by guitarist, keyboardist, and philosopher Richard Pinhas. Released in 1977 on Cobra Records, the album is considered one of the band's most refined and balanced releases.

This album marks the final transformation of Heldon from Pinhas's solo studio experiment into a tightly orchestrated, aggressive, and dense instrumental quartet. The album's sound is built on the contrast between the heavy, hypnotic rhythm section (drummer François Auger), Pinhas's aggressive, fuzz-infused guitar solos, and massive, dark synthesizer sequences (Moog, ARP 2600, Mellotron).

Musically, Interface straddles the line between the German Tangerine Dream/Neu! school and the heavy, grinding avant-garde of King Crimson's Red era.
