"No More Traveling Chess" is the third studio album by the British progressive rock band Parallel or 90 Degrees (Po90), led by keyboardist and vocalist Andy Tillison (later founder of the renowned prog band The Tangent). The album was released in 1999 on Cyclops Records.
The album demonstrates the band's transition from classic symphonic prog and neo-progressive sounds to a darker, more experimental, and more contemporary sound. The music combines heavy guitar riffs, dense organ and synthesizer parts in the vein of Van der Graaf Generator and Pink Floyd, as well as elements of electronica and krautrock.
The record is imbued with the melancholic and sometimes disturbing atmosphere of the 1990s. Tillison's lyrics explore themes of alienation, social change, and human relationships.
The album includes both relatively short, dynamic compositions and large-scale, multi-layered epics with constant rhythm changes and lengthy instrumental solos.
