1. [almost] Live From Space (1:25:03)

A pretty interesting experiment this month that I had completely forgotten about... shocker.

As always, I don't remember making it, but I do remember setting about doing so, the morning after a long conversation with a friend about our days DJing deep in the back and chill rooms of San Francisco, as I set about an attempt to re-create one such morning, that of March 15, 1992, in the Space room of a dual-room party, Time & Space - but this time in my own words, rather than those of others I had no other choice but to communicate through decades ago.

How did I remember the exact date from 1992 when I can't remember making something two weeks ago? Because my friend still has the flyer ;)

This is not a DJ set from 1992...

This is a reimagination of a DJ set from 1992... created 28 years later in 2020, from the memories of that morning - what I would have said at the time in my own words, instead of through the words of others, which was the only way I knew.

I've always found it strange... I can't remember making music two weeks ago, but of the hundreds of DJ sets I played over the entire decade of the 90s, I remember nearly all of them. Record for record.

I'm as clueless as you as to why or how that is.

Somehow speaking to him about it brought it all back. I don't know how I can't remember making something a matter of days ago but I suddenly remembered nearly everything about that morning.

Listening to this now, I can remember nearly every record I played that morning, and how and why I interpreted it the way I did 28 years later. Maybe you will too.

The universe works in mysterious ways.

Space. The universe? Get it?

Sorry.

Also, how old am I, 150?

To say it is a floating, disassociative dreamstate experience representative of being up for 3 days, as I was at the time, is an understatement. Befitting of the name of the room then, and this now – as is this vast, directionless description.

In a way, we'll all be there again. Together.

Like we used to be.
