Brian Farrell - Six Day War (2026)

Six Day War is a retrospective archival collection of previously unreleased recordings by Brian Farrell, best known as the lead vocalist and principal songwriter of Colonel Bagshot.

The material spans multiple recording sessions between 1974 and 2003, documenting Farrell’s post–Colonel Bagshot creative output following the group’s dissolution in 1973. The recordings were originally shelved due to industry and label circumstances and remained unreleased for decades.

The bulk of the album originates from 1974 sessions at Warners London Recording Studios, produced by John Megginson, featuring an extensive lineup of notable British session musicians including Zoot Money, Vivian Stanshall, B. J. Cole, Gerry Conway, Andy Roberts and Ollie Halsall.

Additional sessions include:

1975 London recordings produced by Derek Lawrence featuring Big Jim Sullivan alongside Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock (later known as Chas & Dave).
1979 Liverpool sessions at Amazon Studios with long-time collaborator Dave Dover and Steve Wright.
A final 2003 recording completing the “Six Day War” suite.

The album showcases a stylistic blend of rock and progressive influences, with elements of psychedelic and proto-metal textures, reflecting Farrell’s transition from his earlier work into a broader and more experimental songwriting approach.

The title references Farrell’s earlier composition “Six Day War,” originally recorded by Colonel Bagshot, which later gained wider recognition through sampling and reinterpretation in modern media.

This release represents the first official issue of these recordings, preserving a significant body of previously unheard material from a transitional period in Farrell’s career.
