Songdog - Mirabilia Mundi (2025)

The Gates of Tomorrow is the English-language version of the album Le Porte del Domani by the Italian symphonic progressive rock band La Maschera Di Cera, released on March 12, 2013, via Immaginifica (with support from AMS Records and BTF).

Mirabilia Mundi is the ninth full-length studio album by the British alt-folk and bardic project Songdog, fronted and written by Welsh poet and musician Lyndon Morgans. It was released on March 28, 2025, via Junkyard Songs.

The album's title ("Wonders of the World" in Latin) sets the tone for the entire release: Morgans takes the role of an outside observer, examining the absurdity, beauty, and decay of the modern world. Musically, Mirabilia Mundi continues the classic Songdog tradition, blending influences from Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Jacques Brel, and Lou Reed.

The arrangements are built on the contrast between quiet acoustic guitar, cello, and piano parts and rich, almost theatrical climaxes. The album's lyrics are full of literary allusions, memories of youth, and reflections on inevitable decline and unfulfilled hopes.
