Pianist Ignasi Terraza will draw the notes of a concert that is not simply a concert: it is the celebration of a life dedicated to jazz.
Like someone dusting off an old vinyl, Terraza invites us here to a musical “Long Play” that encompasses his 45-year career. His jazz will guide us through a sound journey with several faces: a walk through the past, his present and a look towards the musical future, with the personal stamp that has characterized him throughout his career.
The Palau is not just any stage for Ignasi Terraza. It is a return home, to the space where he began to dream about the piano, where he recorded his very intimate “Sol-it” (2012), the only solo work of a prolific career. And he is now returning with new travel companions.
At the beginning, he proposes that we listen to him alone, to then enter into a dialogue with two formations that he is premiering for the occasion. First, in a trio, with the elegant Esteve Pi on drums and the forceful pulse of New Orleans bassist Jasen Weaver.
Later, he will present a new quintet formation, with two renowned international soloists: the Greek vibraphonist Christos Rafalides and the versatile Australian multi-instrumentalist Adrian Cunningham, who will alternate between flute, clarinet and saxophone.
And as a special guest, the Anglo-Palestinian singer Sara Dowling will intervene, with whom Terraza recently recorded “Star Gazers”, a joint project of which they will give us a small taste.
