Dutch band Bintangs, led by Frank Kraaijeveld, who started the group as a teenager, recorded material in the early 1970s that was later gathered into the sprawling two-disc compilation Im On My Own Again — a raw, unpolished record of blues-rock that carries a distinctly American, Mississippi-style feel despite the musicians' Dutch roots. The album runs on live-performance energy: real drums, tight guitar work, and a vocal delivery with real grit. Standout moments include the opener "Well Then It's Alright" with its classic r&b swagger, "Ridin' On The L&N" with its train-beat rhythm and harmonica, the slow-burning, moody title track "I'm On My Own Again," and a surprisingly powerful "Demons" — a dark, fuzzed-out track that sounds like a lost American garage psych classic. There are weaker spots too: tracks like "Agnus Grey" and "In The Past" build atmosphere without going anywhere, and toward the end the material starts to feel repetitive. The remastering is inconsistent, with some tracks sounding crisp and others as if lifted straight from a worn vinyl copy. The biggest complaint is sheer length — over thirty tracks, which could have been trimmed into a much tighter single LP. Despite its flaws, the record's value lies in its sincerity: the band was clearly playing because they had to, not chasing success, and that raw, passionate energy is something rarely heard today.
