An extended version of the album "Diamonds, Rhinestones, and Hard Rain" by Swedish neo-psychedelic band Les Big Byrd was released digitally in early 2025 (the original vinyl release of the band's fourth album was in spring 2024 on Chimp Limbs Recordings).
The Stockholm-based collective, founded by Joakim Åhlund (member of Caesars and Teddybears) and Frans Johansson (Fireside), continues to develop their signature hypnotic style, combining dense "motoric" rhythms and guitar noise with melody.
The album combines synesthetic contrasts—from sparkling, cosmic synth passages to dark, guitar-driven atmospheres ("stormy rain"). The music draws influences from Spiritualized, Stereolab, and Neu!.
The album ranges from dynamic, short krautpop tracks ("Diamonds, Rhinestones, and Hard Rain") to large-scale, monumental psychedelic jams—such as the 10-minute opener "Mareld" and the 12-minute nocturnal epic "The Night Bus," featuring horns and piano.
The extended version of the album includes a bonus disc/section with several rare and previously unreleased tracks (including "I'm Living a Saved Life Now" and "Just Like Arcadia").
