Omari Lyseight - Digital (2026)

Brixton beatmaker Omari Lyseight parades his mid-Atlantic bonafides on 'Digital', tapping MIKE, Earl Sweatshirt, Niontay and Lerado Khalil as well as locals like Jawnino and Jadasea.

One of the most impressive things about the Surf Gang stable is that it refuses to confine itself to New York City. evilgiane's collective is outward-looking in the best way, reaching across the country and across the pond to make connections between various local sounds that usually get left to chance. Lyseight's no stranger though; he's spent the last few years immersing himself in the US scene, producing for MIKE, Lucki, YL and others while keeping a foot firmly in South London. 'Digital' displays this constant motion, mixing up his production - that seems to have been inspired by everything from Bay Area bounce and vintage trap to grime and UK funky - and providing his collaborators with plenty to work with.

MIKE, who we last heard from on the 'POMPEII // UTILITY' double album, sounds particularly comfortable slurring from the top of the dome over Lyseight's foggy synths on 'Like or Repost', and his sparring partner Earl Sweatshirt sinks his teeth into a rack of redlined 808 kicks and kinked flutes on 'Square'. 10k's Niontay's also more than comfortable following Winter's brilliant 'Soulja Hate Repellant' with the 8-bit banger 'Gotham City's Finest', maybe the mixtape's most replayable track. But Lyseight's closer collaborators put in the work, too: Jadasea cuts through distortion and interference on early highlight 'Detonate the Fuse' and Jawnino returns to Surf Gang with the anthemic 'drugsintheparty'.
