Joudy originally formed in Venezuela. Just before the pandemic began, as political tensions in the country intensified, the members relocated to New York and re-formed the band in Brooklyn. That emigration became a turning point: the grief and struggle they lived through became the foundation of their music, producing one of the heaviest and most powerful grunge sounds heard in decades.
Despite the move, the band never severed its ties to home. Venezuela continues to face hard times, and following the recent earthquakes, Joudy organized benefit shows and awareness campaigns to draw attention to the country's situation and raise funds for relief efforts.
