At 72 years old, "Evil" Graham Lee, a legendary pedal steel master and member of the Australian band The Triffids, releases his debut album "I Think I'm Alone Now". His musical legacy extends beyond The Triffids to his participation in the iconic 1990 ambient album "Chill Out" by The KLF, where his pedal steel anchored the composition "Baltimore to Fair Play".
The new album represents an artistic exploration of pedal steel's emotional possibilities, merging traditional country themes with atmospheric, reverb-drenched ambient textures. Comprising six compositions, including a 15-minute ambient piece titled "I Think I'm Alone Now" on Side B, the album spans from melancholic "Seeking Beauty in Sadness" to abstract "Nursery in the Beehive". Lee crafts unique sonic landscapes that balance tradition and avant-garde experimentation, employing pedal steel and various effect pedals.
The project is complemented by liner notes from Bill Drummond of The KLF, with whom Graham Lee has maintained a forty-year friendship beginning when The Triffids served as the backing band for Drummond's solo album "The Man". Drummond shares personal reflections on Lee's long-awaited debut.
Released as a 180g vinyl with design by Bradley Pinkerton, a metallic sticker, and a special booklet.
