"Meltdown" is a striking example of so-called "mutated" surf rock. Atomic Mosquitos don't simply replicate the Dick Dale-esque beach sound of the 1960s, but rather cross it with the aesthetics of sci-fi B-movies, grimy garage punk, and a powerful, dense sound.
