The popular Brazilian music project BaianaSystem has announced the release of a new longplay titled O Mundo Dá Voltas Dando Voltas pelo Mundo, scheduled for release in the summer of 2026 via the independent label Máquina de Louco. This record stands as a large-scale international compilation of so-called "refixes"—deep artistic reinterpretations and electronic alternative versions of tracks from their landmark previous album O Mundo Dá Voltas, which won a prestigious Latin Grammy 2025 award.
The concept of the release shaped up naturally among the band members during their world concert tour, during which the musicians actively collaborated with local scenes in different countries. The upcoming album features 13 tracks crafted with the participation of artists and electronic producers from six countries, including Brazil, Nigeria, Colombia, Portugal, France, and the UK. The impressive roster of guest stars unites legendary Brazilian performers such as Seu Jorge, Gilberto Gil, and Anitta with prominent figures of the global scene, including afrobeat pioneer Seun Kuti, Portuguese electronic musician Branko, and French producer Philippe Cohen Solal, renowned for his electro-tango project Gotan Project. The album's artistic direction was overseen by the band's frontman Russo Passapusso.
