Folksomt - Folksomt (2026) [Hi-Res]

BAND/ARTIST: Folksomt

The Norwegian musical project Folksomt represents an experimental bridge between archaic Scandinavian traditions and contemporary nightlife, inventing a distinctive hybrid genre—club folk. At the core of the collective's concept lies the synergy of Norway's localized acoustic heritage and the global electronic language. Traditional instruments such as the Hardanger fiddle and mouth harp coexist on equal terms with deep synth basslines, dense textures, and the driving rhythms of techno and electronica. The quartet members—Jonas Særsten, Lovise Espeland, Johanna Seim, and Gaute Ullestad Moen—do not merely overlay folklore elements onto a modern beat; instead, they deeply reimagine ancient vocal performances and the structural rhythms of traditional Norwegian dances (such as the springar, halling, and polka). The result is a hypnotic, dreamlike, and highly danceable music capable of uniting conservative folk dance enthusiasts and underground techno-club regulars on the very same dancefloor.
