Long Earth - Towards the Sky (2026)

Towards the Sky carries songs inspired by astronomy and space exploration. The Astronomer tells of Galileo Galilei, who improved the design of the telescope and was the first to observe many celestial bodies up close. On Moon and Mars, we follow billionaires into space, while on Breathless, we are astronauts looking back at the Earth, and conclude she’s the best planet for us to live on.

More metaphorically, Towards the Sky also refers to us, humans, pushing beyond our limitations – cultural, technological, natural and political. Seahorses is a song for everyone who is different, encouraging friends to be themselves regardless of society’s expectations. Artificial Child gives the perspective of a prominent computer scientist who co-invented the algorithm behind AI, reflecting upon his creation and where it may take us. In response to human destruction of rainforests, Monochrome gives voice to the natural world. First Casualty is dedicated to the growing number of journalists who have lost their lives in war zones.

Finally, Colours is a love song with a prog twist, while Wanderlust takes us from the Netherlands to Scotland
