The Bogota-based duo Rizomagic (Edgar Marún and Diego Manrique) has announced their new album Cumbión Planetario, which merges tropical futurism, traditional rhythms, and pitched-down Cumbia Rebajada. The record was produced during a three-month residency in the Swiss Alps (La Becque), where local birdsong served as a foundational melodic inspiration, echoing the academic legacy of Olivier Messiaen. Technologically, this conceptual work is notable for utilizing analog gear recorded at SMEM, digital soundscapes, and a unique tuning system based on physicist Hans Cousto's cosmic-planetary frequencies.
