"Mi Gran Amor" (1971) is a magnificent instrumental soundtrack by Spanish maestro Augusto Algueró for director Germán Lorente's comedy film "100,000 Ladrones" (also known as "Qué cosas tiene el amor"). The film stars the renowned rumba king Peret. The album was released in 1971 by Polydor.

For the soundtrack, Algueró used his orchestra (Augusto Algueró Y Su Orquesta) and invited iconic British soul/pop singer Madeline Bell, whose vibrant, soaring vocals can be heard on the opening title track, "Laugh, Laugh," as well as the dramatic soul-pop number "Stay With Me Forever."

The album's instrumental palette is incredibly rich. Here, melancholic themes give way to dynamic dance numbers designed for the film's club scenes. Alghero masterfully plays with contrasts: from graceful bossa nova to energetic orchestral funk with abundant brass instruments.

The album is considered one of the pinnacles of the composer's discography and is highly prized among collectors of rare European groove, film soundtracks, and library music. Tracks from this album (especially the vocal and instrumental versions of "Stay With Me Forever") were subsequently actively used by DJs and even sampled by British hip-hop and trip-hop producers in the early 2000s for their relaxed and profound chill-out potential.
