Mazed is the full-length album by Bantukemistry, an Afrofuturist trio from Genoa, released in 2026 on Bologna's Irma Records — a label with a long history in acid jazz, lounge and dance music. The group brings together a Mozambican musician and two Italians, and this dual identity runs straight through the record: track titles move between Portuguese ("Revolução", "Nois Dois"), Bantu languages ("Fambani") and an Italian frame of reference ("Genova Futura"), building a sonic bridge between Southern Africa and Liguria. Musically, the album extends the path laid out by the trio's earlier Irma singles ("Zoma", "Makorokoto", 2024): Afro house and Afro-funk filtered through a jazz improvisational lens and contemporary electronic production. The release was preceded by the single "Revolução", issued by the label in May 2026. The album sits within Irma's active Afro-oriented output of recent years (including the Afrodesia compilation series on Irma Dancefloor, which featured the group's track "Zoma"), while on stage the trio has built its reputation through Italian Afro-diaspora festivals such as Afrobrix in Brescia and Alle Ortiche in Genoa.
