"L'Océan" is the fifth studio album by the renowned French progressive rock band Atoll, released in 1989.
This album holds a special place in the band's discography: it was their first studio work after a long hiatus (since the release of their previous album, "Artistes et Volontaires," in 1981) and marked a radical change in their musical direction. Interestingly, the album was originally released in Japan on the Crime label in 1989, and was released in the band's homeland, France, a little later, in 1990, on the Flarenasch label.
The central figure of the release was guitarist Chris Beya. He essentially took over the project entirely, composing and arranging all the tracks.
The lyrics for the album were written by Raoul Leininger, and, following the band's tradition, all the main compositions are performed in French.
