Sadao Watanabe - Goin' Home (1966)

Great early work from this legendary saxophonist -- material that mostly features Sadao Watanabe with restrained backing from Toshiyuki Miyama and his New Herd -- plus a few tracks with the trio of Kazuo Yashiro! We're not sure we've seen most of this material elsewhere -- and Sadao's tone is wonderful -- tight and sharp, with a definite modern edge, even on familiar tunes. Titles include "Goin Home", "My Favorite Things", "From Russia With Love", "And I Love Her", "I Feel Pretty", and "Emily"
