"Segreti nel Nero" is a double studio concept album by the Italian progressive rock project L'Ombra della Sera, released on March 29, 2026, on the independent label Black Widow Records.
This work is a large-scale tribute to the soundtracks of cult Italian television miniseries (sceneggiati) of the 1970s, which were distinguished by their dark, mystical, sci-fi, and esoteric atmosphere. The project is a side project and alter ego of the renowned prog rock band La Maschera di Cera.
The album "Segreti nel Nero" combines the spirit of the "golden era" of Italian progressive rock (in the style of King Crimson and Goblin) with a cinematic vintage sound. Instead of using pure digital recordings, the musicians deliberately recreated the analog, dense, raw, and eerie sound of the original scores.
The album is based on both completely re-recorded compositions from their rare, self-titled 2012 debut album (which instantly became a rarity) and completely new material. One of the highlights of the release is the monumental 19-minute suite "Le venti giornate di Torino," inspired by the cursed novel by Giorgio De Maria.
