Paul Dunmall - Afraid To Speak (2026) [Hi-Res]

Veteran saxophonist Paul Dunmall presents his sixth Discus Music release. Dunmall, known for his membership of Keith Tippett's Mujician group alongside many of his own ever changing ensembles, remains a leading active and senior figure on the UK free jazz scene.

Reviewing Dunmall's previous release, Daniel Spicer wrote for Jazzwise: "As ever, Dunmall's big-hearted spiritual sincerity is in evidence...with enough poise and beauty to provoke a sigh of sad wonder for the infuriating and wondrous complexities of life."

Departing from a run of releases featuring mainly large group composition, this stripped down, free-blowing session features a group of great players on top form, delivering music which is in turns heavily incisive and delicately traced. Dunmall himself has never sounded better than he does here.
