"Live At The Great American Music Hall, San Francisco, CA" is a live archival release by Paul Kantner and Marty Balin, founders of the legendary rock band Jefferson Airplane.
The concert was recorded on May 18, 2000, in San Francisco, and was officially released on two CDs in 2011 by Floating World Records.
A comprehensive retrospective survey of fifty years of San Francisco musical history. The musicians perform iconic hits from the era of Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, and the KBC Band, as well as solo material.
In contrast to the original, fast and aggressive psychedelic shows of the 1960s, this performance by these 60-year-old rock veterans is imbued with deep emotion, maturity, and an intimate folk-rock atmosphere. The recording featured longtime collaborator Slick Aguilar (lead guitar) and Diana Mangano (vocals), who at the time was replacing Grace Slick in the current Jefferson Starship lineup. Chris Smith also played keyboards.
