The composition is an orchestral version of a song by French composer Michel Legrand, written for the cult 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair (originally performed by Noel Harrison, who won an Oscar for it).
Percy Faith removed the original lyrics and focused entirely on Legrand's hypnotic, circular melody. Violin parts and light brass instruments create a soft, enveloping atmosphere characteristic of space-age pop and easy-listening genres.
