Journalist Dave Herndon released the album "Nine Slices of My Midlife Crisis," the result of his long-standing friendship with the bands The Mekons and Waco Brothers. Recorded in Chicago between 2002 and 2003 with the participation of Jon Langford and other musicians, the project transformed Herndon’s raw sketches into an eclectic mix of Southern rock and alternative country. The record serves as a tragicomic reflection on loneliness and midlife crisis. Due to the lack of commercial expectations and the contribution of guest vocalists, the work achieved a unique, singular sound characterized by sincerity and originality.
